The Falls

We headed out today in search of Mud Creek Falls. Located in the small resort city of Sky Valley, Georgia in Rabun County, Mud Creek Falls is a little known beautiful waterfall. It cascades for over 100 feet and flows into the Estatoah Falls near Dillard, Georgia. There is no hiking required to enjoy the falls.

There are a few picnic tables at the base of the falls. Here we enjoyed a picnic lunch after our hike. What a great day.

Tree Trail

There is a one-mile tree trail hike next to the falls. The trail will take you along the stream through some of the most beautiful foliage. Rhodendrum, Mountain Laurel, ferns, and wildflowers. It is a very easy hike with a wide flat trail. There is a section that has stone steps down to a primitive trail, that will take you closer to the stream. And stepping stones that will lead you back up to the main trail, and ends at the covered bridge. I definitely recommend taking the primitive trail. The trail does continue on to the pull-off overlook on 246 in Dillard.
